Project 2: The Torus
Aim
The second project, 'The Torus' which is a three-dimensional version of a circle or doughnut shape. An aluminium sheet has been given to make 1/4 of the Torus which is also known as the reverse curve.
3.
Hold the aluminium in place with the stump, this can be achieve with a friend holding side to side of the aluminium sheet on the stump or using a G-clamp. Then using a melee hammer to hit left and right close of the middle line of the aluminium sheet using the sharp side on the left and right gap while blunt side on the middle line. But when hitting, try not to go over the second and third line of the aluminium sheet.
1.
Mark the aluminium sheet with a red or black marker to make guidelines when hitting on the sheet as shown below. Placing it like below, the marking is having a 3cm line from the top and bottom while having 5 vertical line evenly spread throughout the aluminium.
2.
Placing the marked aluminium sheet on the stump with a eye shape and bend it until its curved that is warping on the stump as shown below.

Sharp and Blunt side on where to hit
Result after a lot of shrinking
Tip: When doing this, try not to move the aluminium out of the stump eye deep a lot cause the aluminium doesn't like to cross over fold or crease around the edge, therefore hold in place as much as possible.
4.
After the shrinking the centre strip, do the shrinking for the outside edge done by the anvil hit with the planishing hammer, where it should not shrink over the second line of your aluminium sheet and the tip of the torus should be where the marking of the first line should be.

To make have a nicer texture, sanding with a sand paper can be achieved but can use the English Wheel using the most curved wheel only on the middle line area to give a bit of a curvature because using the other type will flatten the depth of the torus causing it to go back being a aluminium sheet. Therefore don't use the other wheel other than most curved wheel
Sandpaper
5.
After a lot of sanding and a bit of English wheeling, this is the result.
