Project 4: The Blister

Aim The fourth project was the blister, which is metal shaping an aluminium sheet into the shape that you want to form with 2 pieces of wood of the cut out shape. Tutor/teacher has provided three materials that is necessary to do the metal shaping. Aluminium Sheet, 2 block of wood with shape number 30, bolts  1. Use one of the block of wood while place the aluminium sheet on the bottom of the wood on top of a surface that is smaller than the aluminium sheet and also preferably be clamp with G-Clamps, preferably like shown on the picture This is later to screw on on each hole to make holes on the aluminium sheet. This can be achieve by using a cordless drill. The result of the hole-making should be like this: 2. Later use the screw to screw the two block of wood while placing the aluminium sheet in between them aligning the screw hole. Project 3: The Tray

Aim Make a half cut rectangular prism with curved edge along each side which is know as a tray. The teacher has provided us 3 components to start this project, which is the aluminium, radius gauge and a block.  2xBlocks, aluminium sheet and radius gauge 1. Use the radius gauge of the cut-out circle and draw the suitable circle radius onto the block of woods to make the curved side. I have used the 30mm one which is the hardest as my partner also agreed one. After, use the circular saw to sand out the block to the curve as close as possible. Using the circular saw + results 2. Draw lines 1 cm on the aluminium sheet to make it marking guide for the block to be in the middle of the sheet. Also, draw a curve using a circle of the same radius on each corner of the aluminium sheet to be cut later with a tin snip for hitting the corner later on. Project 2: The Torus

Aim The second project, 'The Torus' which is a three-dimensional version of a circle or doughnut shape. An aluminium sheet has been given to make 1/4 of the Torus which is also known as the reverse curve.  1. Mark the aluminium sheet with a red or black marker to make guidelines when hitting on the sheet as shown below. Placing it like below, the marking is having a 3cm line from the top and bottom while having 5 vertical line evenly spread throughout the aluminium. 2. Placing the marked aluminium sheet on the stump with a eye shape and bend it until its curved that is warping on the stump as shown below. Stump with eye shape  Bending the aluminium on the stump 3. Hold the aluminium in place with the stump, this can be achieve with a friend holding side to side of the aluminium sheet on the stump or using a G-clamp.
